Description: |
Rhizome long creeping; rhizome scales black, hairlike, 2-3 mm long. Frond monomorphic, closely spaced, regularly bipinnate with alternate branches, 20-60 cm long. Stipe usually angular, 5-25 cm long, dark brown, hairy. Lamina bipinnate; pinnae 2-4 pair lateral resembling the terminal, linear in outline, alternate, 8-10 x 2-3cm; pinnules rhomboid to subrectangular in outline, upper and outer margin toothed, lower margin entire, 5-15(-25) x 5(-12) mm, hairless; stalklets 0,5-1 mm long; rhachis not winged, hairy; veins simple or forked. Sori more or less curved, 1.5-3 mm wide. |

Derivation of specific name: | vogelii: named after J.R.T. Vogel (1812-1841), German explorer, botanist and plant collector. He was one of many to die on the Niger Expedition in 1941. |
