Description: |
Somewhat straggling shrub, up to 3 m tall. Young shoots finely velvety. Leaves elliptic-ovate or oblong-oblanceolate, rounded or slightly cordate at the base, only obscurely 3-veined from the base, with hairs only on the veins and midrib, often with 2 or more glands near the base beneath; margin coarsely and shallowly crenate-serrate; petiole 0.2-6 cm long. Inflorescences terminal with sexes on different plants, on different inflorescence on the same plant or even on the same inflorescence. Male inflorescences up to 15 cm long with flowers in racemose series of dense clusters; female inflorescences up to 8 cm long with flowers singly in racemes. Fruit 6-8 mm in diameter, 3-lobed, with conical warts in the upper half only, crowned by the 3-4 crimson-purple style arms up to 2 cm long. |
