| Description: |
Straggling or scandent shrub or small tree up to 4.5 m. Leaves: lamina 2-15 × 1.5-4 cm, elliptic to elliptic-lanceolate, acuminate and mucronate at the apex, rounded to cuneate at the base, sericeous above and beneath, becoming glabrous later. Male flowers: sepals 4, creamy-white; stamens 8-10. Female flowers resembling the male but sepals are slightly larger. Fruit 7-10 × 6-7 mm, tuberculate and bearing bristles, reddish when fresh, brown when dry. Seeds 4, shiny, black; caruncle bright red or orange. |
