Date of birth: 22 Feb 1925 Date of death: 27 May 2020 BiographyAmerican botanist, professor of botany at the University of Texas in Austin until 2000, head of the herbarium from 1958 - 98, it was then named 'Billie L. Turner Plant Resources Center' after him. Specialist in Asteraceae, dealt intensively with the flora of Mexico, wrote among others 'The Biology and chemistry of the Compositae' and 'Chemotaxonomy of the Leguminosae'. Professor of political science at the National University of Rwanda. His collections are kept in ARIZ. |
