Date of birth: 21 Aug 1853 Date of death: 04 Oct 1937 BiographyGerman botanist, private teacher from 1874, curator at the BG in Munich from 1884, professor of botany and director of the BG in Göttingen 1888 - 1923. He traveled and collected in 1913 - 19 and 1925 - 26 in South and East Africa (Tanzania), his collections are stored in GOET. Author of 'Flora of German East Africa' and 'Water plants and marsh plants in German East Africa'.
