Species details:

Note: photo shows the male. The larger female is quite different with a narrow red border, orange spots in the forewing and large white patches in fore- and hindwings above. The underside is paler purplish with a distinct yellowish bar.
Distribution: Most common in forested areas of Mozambique and Eastern Zimbabwe. It only just enters into coastal South Africa.
