Rhizome creeping; rhizome scales brown, peltate. Stipe articulated. Fronds spaced apart, pinnate to 2-pinnatifid, without proliferating buds; pinnae articulated to the rhachis; veins free with or without hydathodes. Sori circular, terminal on the veins; indusium kidney-shaped, entire. Derivation of name: arthros: joint, pteris: fern; referring to the not always easily detectable articulation of the stipes. Worldwide: 12-15 species, mainly in the Old World tropics DRC: 0 taxa. |
