Trees with young branches hairless or puberulous, not
winged. Leaves shortly petiolate; margin entire or serrate.
Inflorescences densely clustered or flowers solitary, cauliflorous or ramiflorous; calyx saucershaped or cupshaped;
pseudocorolla 3-5 lobed; stamens numerous,
inserted in 4 whorls, anthers opening by apical
pores. Carpels usually
6, rarely 5 to 7, superior with numerous ovules per locule. Fruit
globose, rounded at apex, many-seeded; seeds
pubescent. Worldwide: 3 species in Central Tropical Africa from Cameroon to Uganda. DRC: 3 taxa. |
